Freshman sire Henny Hughes notched his third individual winner on 9 August when his two-year-old son Gold Pearl recorded a promising victory at Windsor in the UK.
Always prominent, Gold Pearl raced wide throughout and taking the lead close to home, battled well to beat Invincible Ridge more easily than the neck margin would suggest.
This was just his second racecourse appearance, having finished just a head behind the 91p-rated Forjatt (by Europe’s leading first-season sire and fellow Darley stallion Iffraaj) on his debut.
Bred by Copper Cap Farm Inc, Gold Pearl is out of the winning Slew O’ Gold mare Gold Pattern, making him a half-brother to dual G3 winner and multiple G1 placegetter Arch Swing.
