Good Cheer sails to victory in G2 Fasig-Tipton Rachel Alexandra Stakes

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro now a perfect five-for-five

Good Cheer made her three-year-old debut a winning one with a dominating, six-and-one-quarter length victory in the $300,000 G2 Fasig-Tipton Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds on Saturday, 15 February.

The victory was the third straight Stakes win for the exciting daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who improved her record to a perfect five-for-five. The win also earned Good Cheer 25 points toward a start in the G1 Kentucky Oaks.

Partnered once again by jockey Luis Saez, the Godolphin homebred broke smartly and was content to trail the compact field of four as Gowells Delight led the way into the clubhouse turn. Good Cheer moved up the rail into third down the backstretch, and was just looking for some running room as the fillies entered the far turn.

A seam opened for Good Cheer at the top of the stretch, and she quickly took advantage, bulling her way through to take command. From there she began to pull away, cruising through the lane to win easily.

Good Cheer was bred in Kentucky and is out of the multiple G1-winning Street Sense mare, Wedding Toast. During her racing career for Godolphin, Wedding Toast captured both the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes and G1 Beldame, in addition to winning the G2 Ruffian and G3 Comely. In addition to Good Cheer, Wedding Toast is also the dam of the Stakes-winning colt, Ya Hayati (by Dubawi).

Good Cheer is one of several recent Stakes winners for Medaglia d’Oro, joining Spirit of St Louis, winner of the G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational and Nitrogen, winner of the Listed Ginger Brew Stakes. Overseas, the stallion is represented by Meshtri, winner of both the G2 Al Maktoum Mile and Listed Dubai Creek Mile at Meydan.

Medaglia d’Oro is standing the 2025 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $75,000, stands and nurses.
