Goldwood notched her third straight Stakes victory when she turned back the late bid of Auldwood Lane to win the $75,000 Incredible Revenge Stakes by a half-length at Monmouth Park Aug. 10.
Breaking alertly under jockey Jose Ferrer, Goldwood was sent straight to the lead from the starting gate. She was quickly joined by Tillie’s Lily and the pair battled for the lead through the early stages of the five-and-a-half-furlong turf contest. Goldwood shook off her rival at the top of the lane, then held off the late challenge of Auldwood Lane to post the half-length win.
Goldwood was bred in Kentucky by her owner, Colts Neck Stables LLC, and is out of Crimson Maple, a winning daughter of Rahy. Crimson Maple is out the multiple G1 winner and blue hen mare, Maplejinsky, making her a half-sister to Champion Older Mare and Filly Triple Crown winner, Sky Beauty.
Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 34 Stakes performers in 2019 - ten Group or Graded winners - including Elate, winner of the G2 Delaware Handicap and G2 Fleur de Lis; Majestic Eagle, winner of the G3 American Stakes; Golden Award, winner of the G3 Shuvee; Café Americano, winner of the G3 Pucker Up Stakes and G1 Rosehill Guineas winner, Crown Prosecutor.
