Day five of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale once again produced solid results for Darley stallions with Medaglia d'Oro leading the way.
Tops among his progeny was a colt out of a full sister to leading sire Tapit. Consigned by Amende Place (Lee McMillan), agent, the yearling was purchased by K. K. Eishindo. Another five yearlings by Medaglia d’Oro brought six-figure prices as well.
The nation’s leading freshman sire by winners, Hard Spun, also continued to impress buyers with seven yearlings that also reached six figures, including three that brought $200,000 or more. The highest priced lot, a colt consigned by Darby Dan Farm, agent, was hammered down for $240,000. Out of a half-sister to multiple 2011 G2 winner Winter Memories, the colt was purchased by Stonestreet Stables, LLC.
Street Sense added three more $100,000-plus yearlings to his total which now stands at 18. Last night’s results included a $290,000 final bid for a filly out of the multiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare Pretty Meadow. Sold from the consignment of Denali Stud, agent, the purchaser was David Redvers Bloodstock.
Multiple G1 winner Street Boss, whose first foals are yearlings of 2011, continued a very nice run with two more colts selling during Thursday’s session for $165,000 and $160,000. His seven yearlings thus far have averaged $135,000.
Henny Hughes sole offering of the fifth session commanded a solid $180,000 for a half-sister to G1 winner Into Mischief. Consigned by Clarkland Farm, Spendthrift Farm was the purchaser.
