Gold Coast Guineas to Nostradamus
The first Australian Stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro when successful in the G3 San Domenico in August last year, talented three-year-old Nostradamus travelled to the Gold Coast and recorded his second Stakes win, producing a three-quarter length victory in the G3 Gold Coast Guineas.
Settling off the pace, the Hawkes Racing-trained colt needed a gap as the field charged around the final turn and jockey Hugh Bowman urged his mount through a narrow opening to take the win.
Bred by Almavale Bloodstock, Nostradamus is the fourth foal of G3-winning Lion Hunter mare Leone Chiara, making him a half-brother to the multiple G1 winner and Stakes producing sire Star Witness.
Medaglia d'Oro who stands the 2015 breeding season for $125,000 live foal, stands and nurses, has now been represented by six Northern Hemisphere Graded or Group winners, and three more in Australia. They include G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap winner Mshawish, the unbeaten G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver, G2 Azeri Stakes winner Gold Medal Dancer, and the G3 Prix De La Grotte-winning filly Mexican Gold.
