Glinda The Good reigns in Instant Racing Stakes
There was no doubt who the clear winner was March 13th as Hard Spun filly Glinda The Good earned her second Stakes victory in Oaklawn Park's Instant Racing Stakes.
The three-year-old filly settled along the inside a few lengths off the pace in the one mile race. As the field approached the top of the stretch Glinda The Good began to move swiftly and flew past the field on the outside. In the final one-eighth of a mile she was certainly in charge and earned a well-deserved spot in the winner's circle once again. Glinda The Good won the Island Fashion Stakes in February very impressively, and also placed in the G2 Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs at two.
Glinda The Good was bred by owner Stonestreet Stables LLC. She is out of the mare Magical Flash, by Miswaki, who has produced seven Stakes horses to date. Her best include Graded Stakes winner/G1-placed Take The Ribbon as well as Stakes winners Bright Magic and Hot War. Magical Flash is a half-sister to G1 winner Magical Maiden and G2 winner Magical Mile.
Hard Spun has sired 11 Graded Stakes horses and counting from his first crop, which debuted in 2011. They include talented G2 Superlative Stakes winner Red Duke. Just days ago, his Stakes-winning daughter Hard Not To Like finished a strong second in Keeneland's esteemed G1 Ashland Stakes. Glinda The Good is one of seven Stakes winners from this tremendous first crop for the son of Danzig. Hard Spun currently stands for $40,000 at Darley USA.
