Fourth Group victory for Lonhro filly
In her first start since capturing the G1 Railway Stakes on New Year’s day, three-year-old Lonhro filly Bounding led all of the way to easily win the G3 Mr Tiz Trophy over 6f at Ellerslie in New Zealand, March 8.
Bounding showed great speed to cross the field from her outside barrier and kicked clear rounding the home turn before going on to win untroubled. The win was Bounding’s seventh in 10 career starts (she also has three second placings) and her fourth win at Group level.
Bred by Michael Birchall, Bounding is the first foal out of the Darley-bred G3-winning Exceed And Excel mare Believe ‘N’ Succeed, a sister to G2 McEwen Stakes winner Kuroshio and Listed winner Agulhas. Believe ‘N’ Succeed’s second foal is a Street Cry colt born last Spring.
Along with new Darley stallion Denman, as well as Benfica, Pierro, Mental and Beaded, Bounding is one of six G1 winners for Lonhro who is standing the current breeding season at Jonabell Farm at a fee of $30,000 live foal, stands and nurses alongside Denman who is at a fee of $15,000.
