Freshman sire Bernardini opened his Group winner’s account in style on August 28, when his daughter Theyskens’ Theory landed the seven-furlong Prestige Stakes at Goodwood in the UK.
Sent straight to the front under jockey Martin Dwyer, the Brian Meehan-trained filly was challenged in the home straight but shook clear of her rivals most impressively close to home, running on superbly to win by a length and a quarter.
Theyskens’ Theory has now won twice in three starts, breaking her maiden at Newmarket by five lengths last month. She is now likely to be aimed at the G1 Fillies’ Mile, due to be run at Ascot on 26 September. She has also earned quotes as short as 8-1 for next year’s 1,000 Guineas.
Bred by AR Enterprises LLC, Theyskens’ Theory is out of the Summer Squall mare Heat Lightning, making her a half-sister to G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Stevie Wonderboy and six other winners.
Bernardini is sire of five winners to date, including fellow Black type filly A Z Warrior.
