Three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro filly Elusive Pearl showed her talent in the Riskaverse stakes September 2 at Saratoga. Nailing her first Stakes victory, Elusive Pearl was entering off a sold Stakes-placed effort at Woodbine in July and a seven and one-quarter length Allowance victory in June.
Breaking well right away, Elusive Pearl settled just to the outside of the pacesetter in second. At the top of the stretch the filly took command and was never challenged to take the smart victory at one mile on the turf.
Elusive Pearl was bred by Woodlawn Breeding Inc. and is out of the Stakes-placed mare Brazen Bride, by Miswaki. The mare is a half-sister to Baston Challenge, who placed in the G3 Rebel Stakes, as well as Stakes winner Movant.
An international power, Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of seven G1 winners on all surfaces. Among them is the magnificent Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, 2011 G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and G1 Carter Handicap winner Warrior's Reward. His progeny have earned more than $21 million.
