Making just his second career start, Diplomatic Cat, by Discreet Cat, bided his time at the back of the pack before making a sustained drive at the top of the stretch that carried him to an easy victory at Woodbine. The two-year-old colt represents the seventh winner from his sire’s first crop.
Diplomatic Cat was bred was bred by Lantern Hill Farm LLC and Orion Thoroughbreds in Kentucky. He is out Stakes winner Leading Lioness who has also produced the stakes-placed colt Silverleo from a total of two foals to race.
With seven first-crop winners, Discreet Cat has sired the third-highest number of winners of all freshman sires. These also include Saratoga Maiden Special winner Dehere of the Cat and 10-length maiden winner Lucky Dan. Discreet Cat was undefeated as a two and three-year-old and equaled Easy Goer’s legendary one mile Aqueduct track record.
