It was another day at the racetrack for Quiet American’s Star Guitar in the Costa Rising Stakes at the Fair Grounds as the six-year-old journeyman notched his 17th career victory from 23 starts.
With a shortened field, the $1.2 million-dollar earner found himself a little closer than usual as he laid just off of Offlee Wild’s Heavenville until they hit the stretch. As Jockey Corey Lanerie began to urge him along midway down the lane, Star Guitar responded like so many times in the past and pulled away for a two and one-half length victory.
Star Guitar, who was bred by Brittyln Stable in Louisiana, was produced by Stakes winner Minit Towinit, by Malagra, who has also produced Stakes winners Grand Minit and Favorite Minit.
Quiet American is off to a fabulous start in 2011 siring three stakes winners already with daughter Switch winning her second career G1 in the Santa Monica Handicap, and Absintheminded, who became her sire’s 54th stakes winner earlier this month. Quiet American is also becoming a common name as broodmare sire in the pedigrees of top-class performers, including that of fellow Darley sire and champion Bernardini.
Quiet American and Offlee Wild stand for $15,000 and $7,500, respectively, live foal, stands and nurses.
