Bernardini's Cavorting all class in G1 Test Stakes
Bernardini's three-year-old daughter Cavorting sure loves the Spa! After winning the G2 Adirondack Stakes as a two-year-old, the filly returned to the Saratoga winner's circle August 8 in the G1 Test Stakes. It was a Darley-sired exacta in the sprint as Medaglia d'Oro filly Bar Of Gold ran second.
In the seven-furlong race Bar Of Gold broke well to press the pace throughout in second, while Cavorting settled patiently off the pace second-to-last. As Bar Of Gold took over the lead at the top of the stretch, Cavorting began to make her move, storming down the stretch to take the top position and sailed on to an impressive victory.
A winner of the Jersey Girl Stakes at Belmont last time out, Cavorting is out of five-time Stakes winner Promenade Girl, whose wins include the G2 Molly Pitcher Breeders' Cup Stakes. The mare also placed in the G1 Spinster Stakes and G1 Ogden Phipps Handicap. Cavorting was bred in Kentucky by Swettenham Stud.
Cavorting becomes the 11th G1 winner for Bernardini, a group that includes this year's G1 Humana Distaff winner Dame Dorothy and four-time G1 winner in Australia Boban, as well as back-to-back G1 Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha, and multiple G1 winner To Honor And Serve, whose full-sister, Angela Renee, won the G1 Chandelier Stakes.
