A bold front-running performance to win Saturday’s G2 Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill has earned Angel Of Truth the honour of becoming the first Australian Group winner for Animal Kingdom.
Angel Of Truth had shown staying promise in winning three races on his home track of Kembla Grange, and fulfilled it with a convincing victory when stepped up to 2,000m at Rosehill.
Ridden perfectly by Corey Brown, Angel Of Truth slipped the field at the 400m, opening up a handy break and then defying the challenge of the favourite Madison County to draw away to win by two lengths.
In a race that placed question marks over a number of G1 ATC Derby prospects, Angel Of Truth emerged as a live chance in the Randwick Classic in two weeks.
Angel Of Truth is the first foal of the winning Bernardini mare Scarletini. He becomes the 11th Stakes winner for Animal Kingdom who has also sired three Listed winners in Australia.
Animal Kingdom will stand in 2019 at Jonabell Farm for US$15,000, stands and nurses.
