Off the back of some recent good form, including a last start six-plus length victory, Elusive Quality three-year-old Induna became the 70th Stakes winner for his sire with a three-and-a-half length victory over paternal half-brother Cornell in the Listed Geelong Classic over 2200m on October 19 in Australia.
Settling back in the large field of Derby aspirants, the Peter Snowden-trained Induna came with a sustained burst of speed to collar the fellow Sheikh Mohammed-owned Cornell at the 100m mark to race away for dominant win.
Heading to the G1 VRC Derby over 2500m at Flemington at his next start, Induna is a full-brother to G1-winning juvenile Camarilla, as well as a brother-in-blood to multiple G1 winner Sepoy. Out of the G1 Queensland Derby-winning Danehill mare Camarena, Induna was bred by Darley Australia and comes from the family of successful Darley Australia stallion Canny Lad.
Elusive Quality is the outstanding sire of G1 winners Quality Road, Raven’s Pass, and Smarty Jones, among numerous others. His two-year-old daughter Elusive Kate was a fantastic G1 winner at Longchamp recently, while his Champion Australian-bred colt is set to start in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at his next start after defeating a class field of older sprinters in the G2 Caulfield Sprint on October 15.
