May Day Rose, a first-crop daughter of Rockport Harbor, lived up to the promise shown on her August 22 debut when posting her first victory at Del Mar on Saturday.
Beaten just half a length first time out, the Bridlewood Farm-bred filly took the five-and-a-half-furlong contest at Del Mar in a tight finish to become her sire’s fifth winner.
Trained by Bob Baffert for Kaleem Shah, May Day Rose is out of May Day Bluff, by Pine Bluff, and was sold for $220,000 at Ocala in June.
