Keeneland sales update

Darley sires keep going strong on third day

The third session of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale proved once again that Darley sires are a hot commodity in the ring.

Champion Bernardini continued his strong showing with his progeny, including a $550,000 final bid on hip number 467, a colt out of Capote's Crown, she a half-sister to G1 winner and leading sire Smoke Glacken. Consigned by Sweezey and Partners acting as agent for Whisper Hill Farm, LLC, the offering was taken home by Shadwell Estate Company, Ltd.

Earlier in the session, a colt by G1 winner Hard Spun, whose list of beaten foes includes Street Sense and Curlin, was represented well by hip number 317 which brought a final $400,000.
