Hard Spun nails second winner

Yvete Sangalo wins Lone Star Maiden Special Weight

Yvete Sangalo, by freshman sire Hard Spun, became her sire's second winner by impressing in a Lone Star Maiden Special Weight May 27. The two-year-old filly won the five furlong race in only her second start. Swinging wide, she made a run in the stretch to close on leaders and take the win in the final furlong.

Bred in Mexico by Rancho Pozo de Luna, Yvete Sangalo is out of the Unbridled mare Ya Tarra. Ya Tarra hails from a deep family of worldly runners, as she is a half-sister to English and French Champion Lamtarra, French Group winner Saytarra, and Dubai Stakes winner Kammtarra.

A son of the immortal Danzig, Hard Spun was one of the best of his generation. A multiple Graded Stakes winner, Hard Spun took Saratoga's G1 King's Bishop Stakes and then stretched out for second in the G1 Kentucky Derby and G1 Breeders' Cup Classic. Hard Spun's first runners are currently hitting the track in 2011. His stud fee is $30,000 Stands and Nurses.
