Cody’s Wish, a four-year-old son of Curlin out of G1 winner Dance Card (by Tapit), passed them all to win the G1 Forego in a fast time of 1:20.95, just fifteen one-hundredths off the Stakes record and just two-fifths off the 44-year-old Saratoga track record for seven furlongs. Second in the Forego was 2021’s Eclipse Champion and five-time G1 winner Jackie’s Warrior. Cody’s Wish’s 112 Beyer has only been bettered in 2022 by Flightline and future Darley stud mate Speaker’s Corner. Cody's Wish snapped Jackie’s Warrior’s 2022 unbeaten run in the G1 Forego and was putting up his own sixth win from his last seven.
Cody’s Wish, exciting G1 winner of the storied Forego Stakes at Saratoga
Cody's Wish broke his maiden at Churchill Downs going a mile and was just two-fifths off the track record. He then turned in two more consecutive wins at the Louisville track before taking a few months off. He started his four-year-old campaign in the G3 Challenger Stakes, missing the win by a short neck while off a bit slowly. His next two starts, the G3 Westchester Stakes at Belmont and the Listed Hanshin Stakes at Churchill, both resulted in victories and 100+ Beyers. It should be noted that not for the narrow loss in the Challenger, he would have brought seven straight wins into the Breeders' Cup.
Cody's Wish is out of G1 Gazelle Stakes winner Dance Card who also placed in the G1 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. Hers is the family of La Troienne just like roster mates Essential Quality and Maxfield. Cody's Wish is the fastest sprinter by his sire, who already has four G1 stallion sons.
Cody's Wish is a future Darley stallion.
