Bernardini, covering sire of $1.3 million Lacadena

Keeneland November book one continued on November 3rd, with several mares in foal to Darley stallions bringing big money on day two.  The group was led by the 10-year-old Fasliyev mare Lacadena, who sold in foal to Bernardini for $1.3 million to Cecil Seaman, agent for Heider Family Stables LLC.  Hip 342 is out of a half-sister to 2007 Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour and was consigned by Stone Farm, agent.  A pair of mares in foal to Medaglia d'Oro also sold very well, with 13-year-old Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold, a half-sister to G1 Florida Derby winner Dialed In and dam of Graded Stakes winners Golden Lad (by Medaglia d'Oro) and Broadway's Alibi, going to SF Bloodstock for $950,000, and 8-year-old multiple G2-winning City Zip mare City To City selling to KI Farm for $775,000.  Also on day two, the 6-year-old G3-winning Bernardini mare Via Villaggio, in foal to Tiznow, brought $775,000 from Woodford Thoroughbreds.

The top Darley-sired weanlings on day two were led by a colt from Street Cry's final crop, hip 382, that sold to Crupi's New Castle for $525,000.  The colt is out of Namaste's Wish, a full sister to G1 Cigar Mile winner Purge.  A Medaglia d'Oro weanling half-sister to G1 winner Hot Dixie Chick brought $485,000 from Good Luck Farm, while a Bernardini weanling colt out of a half-sister to G1 winners Untapable and Paddy O'Prado went to Shadwell Estate Company for $360,000.  A pair of Street Sense weanlings sold well, with a colt out of the stakes-placed Pulpit mare Miss Inclined selling to Ben Rollins for $200,000, and a filly out of the Mr. Greeley mare Brave Michelle going to Garland Williamson for $180,000.  Finally, a weanling filly from the first crop by Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom went to Larkin Armstrong, agent, for $130,000.  The filly's second dam is G1 winner Flagbird, and she is from the family of G1 winners Prospectors Delite, Runup the Colors, and Little Belle.  Animal Kingdom is among the leading first-crop weanling sires by average, with four sold so far for an average of $123,750.
