Hard Aces leads the way in Louisiana Handicap

Newest Stakes winner for Hard Spun

Hard Spun's Hard Aces posted a commanding win January 17 in the Louisiana Handicap at Fair Grounds, becoming the newest Stakes winner for the sire.

Hard Aces was trailing the field to start the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race, but around the far turn the son of Hard Spun challenged with a wide, looming move to take the lead. Into the stretch he extended his lead and came away a winner by four lengths.

A homebred for Dreamchaser Thorobreds, Hard Aces is out of the Quiet American mare All In With Aces, who is out of Stakes winner Aces.

A son of Danzig, Hard Spun was the sire of three G1 winners in 2014 alone. Wicked Strong captured both the G1 Wood Memorial and G2 Jim Dandy, while daughter Hard Not To Like took the G1 Jenny Wiley at Keeneland. Later in the year Hardest Core posted a fantastic win in the G1 Arlington Million. The sire's other G1 winners lifetime are Eclipse Champion Questing and G1 Mother Goose Stakes winner Zo Impressive from his first crop.
