Elusive Quality sires second Group winner on the weekend

Sai de Baixo captures Grande Premio Independencia in Chile

2014 has been a very good year for the four-year-old Elusive Quality filly Sai de Baixo. From her first four starts, she shows one victory with two placings in G1 events. Her fifth start proved to be the charm as she took down the G3 Grande Premio Independencia on September 6 at Cidade Jardim racecourse in Brazil.

In this four and one-half furlong race, Sai de Baixo found herself just behind the main group shortly after the start. She was able to rein in the leader in the latter part of the race and won very well for her first career Group victory.

Bred and owned by Haras Old Friends Ltd. in Brazil, Sai de Baixo is out of the Royal Academy mare Ke Mint who is a half sister to the G2 winner/G1-placed Mary Re.

Elusive Quality, whose daugter Shuruq won her fourth career Group win, also on September 6, is the sire of 35 career Group/Graded winners - 10 at the highest level - including G1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass, Australian Champion Sepoy, G1 Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, and multiple G1-winning filly Elusive Kate. Other G1-winning son Quality Road is one of North America's leading freshman sires of 2014.
