Hard Spun filly wins second Japan Group event

Darley-bred Someries victorious in Cluster Cup

Someries, a four-year-old daughter of Hard Spun and previous winner of the Zen-Nihon Nisai Yushun (JPN G1) as a two-year-old, annexed her second career Japanese Group on August 13 in the Cluster Cup (JPN G3) at Morioka Racecourse.

Racing second throughout most of the six-furlong event, she competed the race in a quick 1:07 4/5 seconds.

Someries, who races in the colors of HH Sheikh Mohammed, was bred by Darley in Japan. She is the fifth winner out of the Mr. Prospector mare Miss Adorable, a granddaughter of multiple G1 winner Adored. Miss Adorable is also dam of G3 colt U Appeal To Me.

Hard Spun is now the sire of 31 career Stakes winners, 11 in Group or Graded company, with four winning at the highest level. Two of these, Wicked Strong and Hard Not To Like, have both won G1 events in 2014. Wicked Strong, who just won the G2 Jim Dandy at Saratoga, now takes aim at the G1 Travers on August 23rd.
