Bernardini sires 9th Graded/Group winner of 2014 in the G2 Adirondack

Daughters Cavorting and Angela Renee run one-two

Bernardini’s daughter Cavorting was impressive enough in her 11-length debut win on July 3rd that the TDN named her one of its “Rising Stars”, a lofty status given to only a few. Just over a month later, that accreditation was more than justified as she swept by Angela Renee, also by Bernardini, in late stretch to win the G2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga.

Ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., Cavorting was about five lengths off the pace in fifth as the field passed the quarter mile pole. As the field entered the final turn, track announcer Tom Durkin proclaimed, “There goes Cavorting…moving swiftly on the far outside with a bold run.” She continued that run down the stretch and pulled clear of her “half-sister” Angela Renee thirty yards from the wire.

Bred in Kentucky by Swettenham Stud, Cavorting is out of G2 winner and multiple G1-placed Promenade Girl who is a half-sister to Listed winner Dattts Awesome. She was purchased as a weanling at Keeneland November by Stonestreet Stud for $360,000. Second-placed finisher Angela Renee is a full sister to Bernardini’s multiple G1 winner To  Honor and Serve.

Bernardini is the sire of 23 career Group or Graded winners - a total of nine in 2014 - one of whom is Cavorting. In addition to the aforementioned To Honor And Serve, he is the sire of eight other G1 winners, including back-to-back Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha.
