Dekabrist delivers in Kodiak Island Stakes

Street Boss two-year-old stays perfect at Gulfstream

After a 15-length Maiden Special Weight win in his first start at Gulfstream Park, it was no surprise that two-year-old Dekabrist came out as the 1-5 favorite in the Kodiak Island Stakes at Gulfstream. And the Street Boss colt sure lived up to the favoritism, capturing his Stakes debut to remain a perfect two-for-two.

In the five-and-one-half-furlong race Dekabrist was in a ground-saving position on the inside tracking leaders. At the top of the stretch he began to power towards the lead, and found his stride late in the stretch to win easily.

The talented young runner is out of the Deputy Minister mare Shutterbug, a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner Fantastic Fellow. The family traces back to Champion and G1 Epsom Derby winner Henbit.

Street Boss, a G1-winning son of Street Cry, is the sire of this year's G1 Arkansas Derby winner Danza from his second crop. In addition, he has also been represented by 2013 G1 King's Bishop winner Capo Bastone from his first crop, among others.

Street Boss stands for $10,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
