Third G1 winner for Discreet Cat

April 5 was a huge day for Darley sires at Aqueduct. Just thirty minutes after Hard Spun three-year-old Wicked Strong dominated the G1 Wood Memorial Stakes, Discreet Cat's four-year-old son Dads Caps followed suit to wire the G1 Carter Handicap. With the win, Discreet Cat recorded his third G1 winner.

In the seven-furlong race Dads Caps showed early speed to set the pace. The colt picked up the tempo rounding the far turn and kicked on in the stretch before easily holding off late challenge.

A homebred for Vince Scuderi, the son of Discreet Cat is out of Seeking The Silver, who is a full-sister to Stakes winner Choctaw Ridge. Seeking The Silver has also produced Stakes-placed Liza Too.

Discreet Cat's other G1 winners are G1 Del Mar Oaks victress Discreet Marq and G1 Chandelier Stakes-winning filly Secret Compass. He has also been represented by multiple Graded Stakes winner and G1-placed Discreet Dancer, among others. Dads Caps was the second Black type winner on the day for Discreet Cat, as his son Air Khalifa took the Listed Coral Stakes at Hanshin.

Discreet Cat's 2014 stud fee is $20,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
