Milam runs away in Pica Slew Stakes

Street Sense filly wins for fun at Calder

Three-year-old Street Sense filly Milam was unstoppable February 22 in the Pica Slew Stakes at Calder and became the 18th Stakes winner for her sire.

In the six-furlong race the filly settled between runners to press the pace before taking on the lead around the turn. There was no catching the filly turning for home, as Milam opened up on the field and ran away in the stretch to an eight-length score.

Milam is out of the Forestry mare Autumnal, who is out of the G3-placed mare Marie J and is a full-sister to Graded-placed Sisti's Pride. The family traces back to G1 winner Albert The Great. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Fred W. Hertrich III & John D. Fielding.

A son of talented sire Street Cry, Street Sense has been represented by strong runners from his first crops to race and was America's leading third-season sire in 2013. Among his nine Graded Stakes winners are G1 Spinaway Stakes victress Sweet Reason, G1 Humana Distaff winner Aubby K, and multiple G2 winner and G1 Kentucky Oaks-placed Unlimited Budget. Street Sense remains the only horse to ever win both the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Kentucky Derby.

Street Sense stands for $40,000, live foal stands and nurses.
