Fantasy becomes reality for Discreet Cat filly

Mamma Kimbo wins G2 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn

Mamma Kimbo came into the Fantasy Stakes with just one career start but her performance today showed that she has very bright future. The three-year-old daughter of Discreet Cat showed she deservers mention with North America’s top sophomore fillies and certainly justifies strong consideration for the Kentucky Oaks next month.

Breaking alertly from the gate, Mamma Kimbo surged to the front with jockey Mike Smith and led throughout the one and one-sixteenth mile event for a very impressive front-running victory.

Mamma Kimbo, a six-figure Keeneland September yearling from Discreet Cat’s first crop, is out of the Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare Bag Lady Jane.  Bag Lady Jane is a half-sister to Stakes-winner and multiple Graded-placed Deputy Storm and is out of multiple Canadian Champion Deputy Jane West.

Discreet Cat’s other Stakes horses include 2012 G3 winner Out of Bounds  and G2-placed Discreet Dancer. Ranked equal to Bernardini at three, Discreet Cat was undefeated that year, including his record-tying performance in the G1 Cigar Mile Handicap.

Discreet Cat stands for $12,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
