Sweet victory for Sweet Reason in G1 Acorn Stakes

How sweet it was on Belmont Day for Sweet Reason! The Street Sense filly was in top form winning the G1 Acorn Stakes June 7. It was the second win at the highest level for the three-year-old filly, who captured the Spinaway Stakes by nearly six-lengths last year at Saratoga.

In the one-mile race Sweet Reason settled to the inside well back in 11th position. Rounding the far turn she began to accelerate along the rail before swinging wide to contend for the lead. Down the lane the filly dug in and took the victory impressively.

Out of the Stakes-placed Mt. Livermore mare Livermore Leslie, Sweet Reason is a half-sister to G3 winner and G1-placed Don't Forget Gil. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Darley and Brent and Beth Harris.

Other top runners for talented young sire Street Sense include G1 Humana Distaff winner Aubby K and multiple Graded Stakes winning-filly Unlimited Budget. He has been represented by 11 Graded/Group winners and 25 Graded/Group horses to date in his young career. A son of Street Cry, Street Sense remains the only horse to ever win both the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Kentucky Derby.
