Stakes success for The Quarterback

Street Boss gelding wins Kensington Stakes in Australia

A slick last start winner, Street Boss gelding The Quarterback stepped back into Stakes class level on January 10, winning the Listed Kensington Stakes down the Flemington straight.

Settling off the pace with a hot tempo set up front, jockey Matthew Allen came down the outside of the field on the race favourite to give the four-year-old his sixth career win, and first at Stakes level, having previously placed at G3 level on two occasions.

Bred by Gilgai Farm, The Quarterback is out of the winning Encosta de Lago mare Soorena. A half-brother to the dual G2 winner Philippi – Vanilla (HK), and the Singapore G3 placegetter The Rude Warrior, The Quarterback is the second Australian stakes winner for his sire.

The sire of 10 Stakes winners highlighted by G1 winners Danza and Capo Bastone, Street Boss will stand at a fee of $10,000, Live Foal, stands and nurses.
