Medaglia d'Oro in high demand at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

Sire of more sales or session toppers than any other sire since 2007. In the past three years, he has been represented by more yearlings selling at $500,000 or more at the sales. The first session of Fasig-Tipton's historic yearling sale on August 4th brought more of the same. Medaglia d'Oro remains one of North America's most sought-after sires.

At $675,000, hip number 58, was the highest-priced colt among all active sires on day one of the Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale. The strapping dark bay or brown colt is out of Stakes winner Passion Du Coeur (by Distorted Humor) and is a full sister to Stakes winner and multile G2-placed Distorted Passion. Hailing from the consignment of Gainesway Farm acting as agent, John Ferguson signed the ticket on behalf of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

It was more of the same early on in the sale when consecutive yearlings sired by Medaglia d'Oro brought final prices of $400,000 each. John Ferguson, again, signed the ticket for hip 27 consigned by Lane's End Farm, agent.  The filly is out of G2W India, a full sister to Stakes winner and G3-placed Sing Softly. India is also a half-sister to multiple G1W To Honor And Serve, by Bernardini.

Hip 28, also a filly, was consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency also acting as agent. Out of G2W Ivanavinalot, the dark bay or brown yearling is a half-sister to the dam of multiple Stakes winner and G2-placed Mico Margarita.
