Girolamo: Italian for winners!

Third Saratoga debut winner for freshman sire

Over the past 10 days at Saratoga, three juveniles by Girolamo have made their first trips to the starting gate with each one getting their picture taken in maiden special weight company.

She’s All Ready started off the winning streak by garnering TDN Rising Star status with her eight and one-quarter length victory on August 10th. This past weekend, Backwood Bay got off the mark with a come-from-behind victory August 15th. And then on August 17th, it was the colt Pagan’s turn as the willing colt battled through some late stretch trouble to win at the wire after stalking the pace early.

Pagan was bred by Sequel Thoroughbreds and Lakland Farm in New York. The fifth winner for his freshman sire, Pagan was produced from the Gone West mare Mula Mula. The latter is out of G2 winner Follow the Money and is the dam of multiple Stakes winner Daddy Nose Best.

Girolamo's race resume includes wins in the G1 Vosburgh and G2 Jerome Handicap. By A.P. Indy, he is out of a full-sisters to the dams of G1 Kentucky Derby winner and successful young sire Super Saver and Bluegrass Cat. He also hails from the family of champion and leading sire Rhythm. Girolamo's first crop also features Belmont maiden special weight winner and Stakes-placed Lucky Lurie.
