Generalife scores commanding win

Lonhro's son wins Listed Civic Stakes at Rosehill

Lonhro four-year-old Generalife posted his third win from his past four starts and recorded his first Stakes victory with a dominant win in the Listed Civic Stakes over 1350m at Rosehill, July 5.

In career-best form since returning from a spell, Generalife settled midfield in the early stages before finishing hard down the centre of the track and claiming a soft two-length victory.

A home bred for Darley, Generalife is out of Stakes-placed Redoute’s Choice mare Albaicin, a multiple metropolitan winner in Sydney. Albaicin is a half-sister to Listed winner Celebrity Girl and Lonhro’s recent G3-placed daughter Lady Lakshmi.

Generalife becomes the 44th Stakes winner for Champion sire Lonhro who is the sire of six G1 winners including fellow Darley stallion Denman and Champion two-year-old Pierro.
