Elnaawi rings in the New Year with a win in the Native Dancer Stakes

Son of Street Sense wins going away at Laurel

Street Sense's five-year-old son Elnaawi started the New Year off with a bang January 3 posting a sharp win in the Native Dancer Stakes at Laurel Park.

Positioned off the pace in the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race, Elnaawi was fourth entering the far turn. Gaining momentum on the outside, the son of Street Sense stormed down the center of the track with a strong burst and easily won going away.

Previously placed in the G3 Gotham Stakes as a three-year-old, Elnaawi is out of Stakes winner Pilfer, who has also produced G1 winners To Honor And Serve and Angela Renee, both by fellow Darley stallion Bernardini. Pilfer herself is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner India. Elnaawi was bred by Siena Farms, LLC.

Now the sire of 26 Stakes winners lifetime, Street Sense has been represented by 12 Graded or Group winners to date. They include recent unbeaten G3 Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes winner Ocho Ocho Ocho, three-time G1 winner Sweet Reason, G1 Humana Distaff winner Aubby K, and Australian G1 winner Hallowed Crown.

Street Sense's stud fee for the 2015 breeding season is $35,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
