Cat Sup pounces in Pelican Stakes

Newest Stakes winner for Discreet Cat

Cat Sup, a three-year-old son of Discreet Cat, earned his first Stakes win down in the bayou March 7 in the Pelican Stakes at Delta Downs.

In the seven-and-one-half-furlong race, Cat Sup ran just off the pace, stalking along the inside. Entering the final turn, the son of Discreet Cat began advancing, and battled down the lane to take the win in the final stages.

Bred by Twin Creeks Farm, Cat Sup is out of the Stakes-placed Deputy Minister mare President's Girl, out of a half-sister to G1 Florida Derby victor Royal And Regal and Graded Stakes winner Regal And Royal. President's Girl herself is a half-sister to Stakes winner Thunderdome, who has produced Stakes winner and G1-placed Mekong and Stakes winner Toyo Lyphard, among others.

Cat Sup marks the 17th Stakes winner for young sire Discreet Cat, joining a group that includes G1 Del Mar Oaks winner Discreet Marq, G1 Carter Handicap winner Dads Caps, and Secret Compass, who won the G1 Chandelier Stakes at two.

Discreet Cat stands the 2015 breeding season for $7,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
