Bernardini filly too good in Pennsylvania

Bridgehampton impresses in first career Stakes win

Even though four-year-old Bridgehampton had only made five career starts prior to the My Juliet Stakes at PARX racetrack on May 24, the Bernardini filly had shown that she possessed talent. She recorded two career wins, once each at Aqueduct and Belmont, and missed winning the G3 Victory Ride Stakes, also at Belmont, by just three-quarters of a length. In the My Juliet, she left no doubt that she was best in the field for her first lifetime Stakes win.

Quickest of the gate, Bridgehampton maintained a comfortable advantage until the stretch. Medaglia d'Oro's Miss d'Oro, who tracked in second for most of the race, made her move as the field turned for home but couldn't sustain her momentum and finished third. Bridgehampton, however, was full of run and drew off to win by four lengths.

Bridgehampton is out of the Forestry mare Teton National and is a full sister to Stakes-placed Stormy Novel. Teton National is a half-sister to Stakes-placed Andover Lady, dam of G3 winner Call To Serve.

Champion Bernardini is the sire of 29 additional Stakes winners, including back-to-back G1 Travers Stakes winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha. Eight 2014 Group or Graded winners include the Australian-based pair of G1 winners Go Indy Go and Boban. He has sired a total of eight career G1 winners.

Bernardini stands for $100,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
